About

Batmobile_webDoug Clifford has lived the blues. His parents were mauled to death by bears during a family photo shoot and he lived on twigs and berries for weeks before learning he was eligible for his school’s subsidized lunch program. Doug won numerous awards at Our Lady of Perpetual Suffering, including Most Likely to be Slammed Against His Locker, Most Likely to Die Alone and a Virgin, and the coveted, Most Likely to Open Fire at a Mall on Black Friday. While the cool kids were listening to rock music, Doug was learning guitar from the now forgotten, Blind Three Toe Leibowitz while dancing for quarters and dodging lit cigarettes tossed by less than appreciative crowds.

Doug fell in love with comedy in his mid-20s, inspired by the absurdity of the human condition. Decades later, with hundreds of hours of practice under his belt, he started writing his own songs infusing his own comic flair. Masculine, yet melodic, his vocals have been compared to the sounds of Johnny Cash. He plays 12-string acoustic guitar and knows how to entertain a crowd with his witty observations of love and life.

Doug also can perform Greenwich Village and Elsewhere : A 12- string tribute to the great singer-songwriters of the 1960’s and 1970’s. That includes Tim Hardin, Phil Ochs, James Taylor, John Prine, Tom Waits, and many many more.
